OUR RELIEFE & CHARITABLE WORKS

MEDICAL SERVICE

Mainly for the benefit of the residents of the Ashrama, the Home runs a 52-bedded Indoor Hospital, with facilities for treatment of cases of ordinary illness and for simple surgical operations. A number of qualified and distinguished medical practitioners attend the Hospital as Honorary Visiting Physicians. There is a Dispensary open to the members of the public. Apart from general treatment there are separate sections for treatment of diseases of the Tooth, Ear, Eye, Nose and Throat & Skin each under a qualified specialist.

There is also a pathological unit under a qualified pathologist where ordinary tests of blood, urine, stool etc. are carried out.

A Homeopathic Unit is also run under qualified Homeopaths, who attend patients by turn six days in a week.

During the year 2013-2014, 22865 patients were treated at the Hospital. The facilities available in the Indoor Hospital as also the Charitable Outdoor Dispensary & Mobile Medical Camp are far from adequate considering the actual needs. Those are required to be augmented by providing more space, additional furniture, special equipments and adequate staff and stock of essential medicine.

In order to provide Medical Aids to the needy people in the remote villages of Sundarbans areas, free Medical Camps are being organised periodically by us.

RELIEF WORK

The Boys’ Home has a record of active participation in relief work in various parts of the country and also in our neighbouring country, Bangladesh. Whenever required the monastic members of the Home with pupils and staff rush to relieve the sufferings of the people afflicted by drought, flood, or any other natural calamity.
